Entrepreneur’s Social Responsibility

Our Alumni Swapnil Chandanshive Employs 25 Tribal Youth in His Business

Dombivli 02 Feb 2016:

For true societal progress we should focus on creating jobs rather than seeking jobs. Long before the startup culture has achieved a critical mass in India and social entrepreneurship has entered in our colloquial discussions, VSM has been sowing the seeds of social entrepreneurship & responsibility through its self-help groups created in Vihigaon near Kasara & Khodade at Wada Taluka.

The volunteers who have worked in our rural education and development projects and the alumni who have had exposure to social entrepreneur activities have been carrying the message & also implementing the thought in their own work areas. One such example is Swapni lChandanshive who has started up his business in Power sector and employed approximately 25 tribal youth from Jawhar Taluka of nearby Palghar district.

While his motive was to become a successful businessman and earn money and fame, the values which he imbibed from VSM and his family helped him to be socially responsible and create an impact through his business venture. He currently employs 60 youth from Zharkhand, West Bengal and Maharashtra’s hinterlands. Youth from Javhar tehsil of Maharashtra are not known to work on such projects, hence he is handholding them and aiming to create a steady stream of trained, employable and skilled youth.

Here is a short film on the social responsibility effort by Swapnil Chandanshive, Director, Swara Engineering and Alumni, Vivekananda Seva Mandal, Dombivli.
