The Problem We're Solving

In the urban environment of Dombivli and the wider Thane district, light pollution and a lack of accessible platforms create a significant disconnect between the public and the fascinating world of astronomy. Students and enthusiasts have theoretical interest but few opportunities for practical, hands-on experience with telescopes and expert guidance, leading to a gap in scientific curiosity and astronomical literacy within the community.

Our Solution

Expert-Led Indoor Sessions: Regular seminars and workshops on astronomical theories, recent space missions, and celestial events, designed to be accessible to a general audience.

Hands-On Outdoor Stargazing Camps: Organized trips to darker sky locations where participants can use telescopes (provided by the club) for practical observation.

Equipment Training: Volunteers train participants on how to set up and use different types of telescopes and astrophotography equipment.

Community Building: A dedicated forum or social media group for members to share observations, photographs, and information about upcoming celestial events.

Event-Based Activities: Special gatherings organized for significant astronomical events like meteor showers, lunar eclipses, and planetary conjunctions.

Project Goals

  • Spark Scientific Curiosity: To ignite interest in astronomy and space science among 500+ residents of Dombivli and Thane district, across all age groups
  • Provide Practical Experience: To offer 200+ enthusiasts hands-on experience with telescopic equipment and celestial observation, moving beyond theoretical knowledge
  • Build a Community of Learners: To establish a thriving community of 100+ active astronomy enthusiasts who regularly participate and share knowledge
  • Promote Science Outreach: To become the leading platform for astronomy education and stargazing activities in the region
  • Document and Share: To capture astrophotography and observations during camps to create a digital repository of local astronomical activities
